The KBMOD Uplink: Friday, February 1, 2013

February is here! If you have been following me on Twitter, you know I’ve bought into a little gaming challenge for the month of February called Four For February. Check out our community thread here and take up the challenge with us!

Now for the news:

Yesterday we linked several stories on Gabe Newell’s lecture at the University of Texas. If you want to view one of the lectures, it is now on YouTube for your enjoyment. I watched the whole thing over my lunch break and it just made me mad that I don’t work for Valve. It was also really interesting to hear why Valve does many of the things it does and the science behind a lot of it. Check it out here:

-At nearly the same time as Gabe was giving that talk at UT, Valve was being sued by a German consumer group. They are alleging that Steam is illegal because users cannot resell games. This is a far cry from America where the used games market is under fire by the big console makers. Let us know in the comments what you think about the difficult issue of being able to resell digital goods.

-Head chopping simulator Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is releasing a huge content patch with two new game modes, 13 maps and new weapons including flails and giant polehammers. Check out the details in the content update video below:

-We end the links today on some new Sleeping Dogs story content! Joystiq is reporting that the “Year of the Snake” DLC will drop in Q1. We love Sleeping Dogs here at KBMOD and new content is definitely awesome. There will be an entire mission series and of course new outfits, weapons and cars.

Enjoy your weekend and don’t forgot to check out all our stream team members for some weekend entertainment.
