0>DICE says No Mods for BF3
>This is slightly old news (yesterday) but still worth mentioning. After the Black Ops modtools delays and fiasco, don’t know that I had my hopes up anyway. Battlefield is a whole other animal from Call of Duty.
I think the developers are right with this one. The sheer size of maps and the destruction of environments probably has made it so any modding would take an insane amount of time. After seeing the mod stories cropping up in the last few days however, part of me wants to see what someone could do. The GTA 4 and Oblivion mods we posted look excellent. The Star Wars CoD4 mod was incredibly fun. Obviously you have Promod as well.
Bottom line: When mods are done right, they are fantastic, sometimes better than the stock game. With Battlefield 3, I can’t help but think it’d be too much to do.
