0>Operation Metro is a Glimpse at BF3 Map Design
>Battlefield 3 is shaping up to be a very strong contender for everyone’s game of the year. We here at KBMOD are definitely anticipating it more due it to it’s PC-centric launch and the fact that really the Call of Duty series has gotten slightly stale. Hell, we don’t even know if Modern Warfare 3 will have dedicated server.
This video shows some game play from a map in BF3 that is contained (well, sort of, if everything wasn’t blowing up) in a ruined subway tunnel and then through the turn-styles and ticket counters. What Battlefield does here is succeeds at having the massive scale maps with 64 people such as the tank battle footage from E3 and then have that work in an urban close quarters environment. This is no small task. To me, usually the large scale battle isn’t going to succeed in close quarters (40 man shipment anyone?), but they’ve managed to strike a very good balance. The map sort of “ends” in a city center which is larger and just heightens the intensity.
Encouraging signs for this highly anticipated game. I’ve heard that the map design is flawless throughout. I’m drooling at the chance to get my hands on beta now.
