  1. Spacey says:

What are your guys’ thoughts on Best Co-Op game?

  2. JohnnyChimpoo says:

What was the judgement scale on best e-sports game? because SC2 has gone from the back room at mlg to the main attraction on the main stage. Also isn’t tribes still in Beta?

  3. Panda says:

Yeah, I’m going to have to disagree with Tribes being the best e-Sports game.
StarCraft 2 is just such a bigger game e-sports wise.

  4. matik23 says:

Lol at Tribes winning Esports of the year. Are you serious? MLG survives because of Starcraft 2. The term “esports” exists because of Starcraft 2. Look, I realize this site is mostly dumbed down fps players who only have the skill set of twitch shooting, but let’s give recognition where it’s due.

Starcraft IS esports. Don’t you ever forget.

  5. ASoggySandal says:

Seems like people have got a bit upset over the e-sports winner. What people have to remember is these awards are just the Bros opinions on it. And for the most part, they do just play fps games and twitch shooters, so it’s understandable that they chose a game they enjoyed playing and felt it would do well.

  6. ToastyGod says:

I also disagree with tribes winning best youtube game. It gets pretty boring to watch after 3 flag caps just skiing with maybe 1 or 2 kills. Not saying tribes is a bad game, it’s really fun and probably will be pretty competitive but i don’t think it is good for youtube. A lot of people find Tribes becoming pretty boring after playing it for a while.

  7. kel. says:

I know many people might disagree with the esports title but the decisions where made by the bros which none really play or follow starcraft in anyway so many weren’t going to choose it. And matik there’s no reason to go flaming this site on the people on it bro c’mon we’re all friends :).

    • Left4Raptor says:

To be completely fair, if the bros want to state their opinions, they need to say so. If you put down “Best” instead of “Favorite,” you’re saying that the winner is objectively the best, even if it’s not your personal favorite. Objectively, as matik said, Starcraft IS eSports, no two ways about it.

      • Brandon vol1tion says:

I’m not sure how we would make an objective “best of” list, given that such a determination is subjective by definition. I’d recommend watching/listening to the awards show for some elaboration on each category and how each contributor made his choices.

        • matik23 says:

Things like “Best PC Exclusive of the Year” is subjective, but when you make a decision like “Best Esports of the YEAR” you can easily make this decision from an objective point of view. How about the fact that Starcraft 2 generates 5k+ viewers easily, daily from top notch Starcraft players AND casters. How about the fact that Starcraft 2 and E-sports start to get recognition in Forbes, not to mention Day-9 is featured in the Forbes’ 30 under 30 list. How about the fact that MLG came from a joke of a tournament where 13 year old kids play CoD into the biggest US Continental tournament? Those don’t sound subjective at all.

I listened to all your reasons–I’m sorry reason (singular)–about why Tribes won (Oh, and kudos to the ones who voted SC2, this site does have hope) *PVt. Douchebag’s Prebuscent Duke Nukem voice* And the reason is… /Douchebag voice “Oh I picked Tribes because I was thinking about the future of esports.” Ummm ok, good thing this award show is about what’s happening in 2011, as in now? You talk about the future as your logic and reasoning, but Pvt Douchebag scoffs and questions why Starcraft even made the list. I mean at least IGN and other awards attempt to explain why they chose their shitty best picks. But you didn’t want to be like them in the first place, right?

          • matik23 says:

Oh and to the whole “looking out for the future and that’s why I picked Tribes” part? I have yet to see Twitch feature one player from that game. But hey, it’s all about the future right?

You guys break away from the youtube community because I’m guessing you don’t want to be part of the consolol generation. What I see is the 13 year old xbox live kids who grew up just a tiny bit to move on to a more expensive gaming rig just to play the same twitch shooters and mature into making fart jokes, like a loser version of the Apatow crew. Congrats.

          • Brandon vol1tion says:

You sound awfully upset over what was intended to be a light-hearted awards show to cap off the year. You’re certainly entitled to your opinion, but the insults are uncalled for. Maybe you ought to go outside and take a walk or something.

          • Left4Raptor says:

While I believe the personal insults are way out of line, you need to recognize that everything he’s saying is quite true. There is a plethora of empirical evidence in favor of SC2 being objectively a better eSports game than Tribes at this current moment, and even if the latter will matter more in the future, this is a 2011 list, not the future.

Of course, the kvetching IS unnecessary considering the nature of the show, but it’s important to know that if you meant for this to be taken seriously, it would be quite difficult.

  8. kel. says:

Fair point , I agree that Starcraft is the biggest eSports game out there. Just saying that these are more just opinions than anything else, I do see what you mean by the “favourite” part though.
