0>BF3: Consoles to be capped at 720P / 30 Frames Per Second
>
Not that any of you need another excuse to choose PC over Console, but game developers are already pushing the hardware limitations of the current generation consoles to the breaking point.
This may be old news to some of you, but a member of Battlefield 3’s development team at DICE @repi announced on twitter (and covered by Unofficial BF3 Blog) that due to the requirements of the Frostbite engine, the console version of Battlefield 3 will be capped at 30 frames per second, at a maximum resolution of 720P (1280×720, .92 megapixels) in order to retain performance.
I came across this great tool on appspot.com which lets you test out a few different settings for reference (30fps vs 60fps 0 motion blur, for example).
