First Look: Shadowgate
Shadowgate is a classic point and click puzzler from the early days of the NES, first released in 1987. Now, 27 years later, Zojoi games have created a successor.
The game is staying true to its point and click RPG roots. The text based story telling is detailed, nuanced and often humurous. Even the talking skull, Yorick, is there to provide some comic relief now and then. What blew me away the most though was all the hand painted scenes for each area and the lush classic soundtrack. If you don’t like the orchestral arrangements you can change the soundtrack to the original chiptunes!
If you are into the point-and-click RPG genre, this is a no-brainer. If you are new to the genre, the tutorials are awesome and really help you get eased in to the game (as you’ll see above).
Shadowgate is available now on Steam for $19.99.
