>Windows 8 Confirmed

>Well, that was fast. I feel like Windows 7 just came out. Windows 8 will hit shelves in early 2012. We linked a preview to a bunch of rumored features in a previous post here.

What does this mean for us as PC gamers? A little. Performance will likely be improved as Windows gets lighter with each build. Windows 8 specifically will be built for tablets as well as PCs, probably in seperate versions, but that factor alone means less fat.
Compatability and driver issues should be minimal as I don’t feel they could do that much of a Kernel rebuild in this amount of time. Windows 7 was compatible with most pieces of software and hardware even in it’s early stages.
We will keep an eye on this and let you know when we get our hands on it (which I was able to get into Windows 7 early) what it means for you.
