>Square Enix demos photo-realistic game engine
>At a recent press conference in Japan, Square Enix showed off its next-gen game engine called Luminous Studio, which is expected to launch in late 2012 to early 2013. The new engine supports DirectX 11 and “includes cloth and fluid simulation, realtime reflections and highly efficient tessellation techniques that lower the level of detail of 3D models with minimal memory usage cost.” Luminous Studio will also have advanced AI support and is being designed to scale from small casual games up to AAA titles.
This all sounds well and good, but you have to check out the pictures and video below to see just how impressive this new technology looks. I’ve never been so awed by a parking garage. (Click on the pictures to view them at their full resolution.)
