The KBMOD Uplink: Monday, January 28, 2013

Monday. It looms over the weekend like a bad hangover as we all trudge back to work or school. It isn’t the most pleasant of days, but hopefully some gaming news can help soften the blow.

Without further ado, here are the links:

-We start with some great news from the ashes of THQ. Vigil games (creators of the Darksiders franchise) had no bidders from the THQ firesale, but now Crytek has swooped in and hired all core staff from Vigil for a new studio in Texas. This is awesome news, however the Darksiders IP remains unsold and in the hands of THQ. Hopefully Crytek can snap that up too!

-Crysis 3 is on its way, and if you’re a fan of the series almost nothing else will do. No better set of feels than seeing a maxed Crysis game on the PC. If you are one of those fans, take a gander at this PCGamer hands-on look at the multiplayer.

New NVIDIA beta drivers are available and should give a boost to performance in several titles, including the aforementioned Crysis 3. Beware though as I’ve seen one or two reports on twitter or weird crashes and errors resulting from the beta drivers.  Being beta though, you probably knew their might be issues.

-New Starcraft II news seems to be abounding these days as we move closer to Heart of the Swarm release. Today PCGamer has a full preview of the campaign for those into the lore of the game.

-Last, but certainly not least, the juggernaut that is DOTA 2 has found its way into a brand new tournament series over on the European circuit. Announced over the weekend, ESL will hold a series of four tournaments with a cash pool of $156k. The KBMOD EU guys better find a way to represent!
